Camp Alabaré helps family members grow closer by improving interpersonal relationships.
Camp Alabaré helps us grow in our own faith and love by serving God’s people
Camp Alabaré stimulates spiritual growth for individuals and the family
Camp Alabaré helps build the Kingdom of God and proclaim the Gospel
How the Program works
Each year, we welcome inner-city families at little or no cost to a week of Alabaré (Praise). Participants arrive at camp via bus or their own transportation. We all stay in a cabin, a cottage, or a lodge. Ages range from infants to senior citizens.
After a hot breakfast, the entire camp community gathers together with Circle Time which is a spiritual reflection including scripture, music and prayer. Next, team building activities and sharing form the basis for Peer Groups. Open camp activities including arts & crafts for adults and youth, swim lessons and archery complete the morning’s offerings. Lunch and a brief rest time will prepare campers for an afternoon at the waterfront with swimming and boating.
Each Camp Family is actively involved in the celebration of daily Mass which draws our afternoon to a close
Supper, served family style, is followed by volunteer-led family sessions. Then we offer activities such as fishing, boat rides, hiking, crafts, or others specific to the unique interests of each “camp family.” Evening events may include: a campfire, board games, or a night hike. We also offer special activities for teens and young adults.
One evening we gather to pray the living rosary together with a candlelight procession. There will be an opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and a prayer service for healing. We celebrate our final evening together with songs, skits and lots of laughter at Fiesta.
Special Needs:
We have many individuals with special needs whom we welcome to camp. If you or someone in your camp family needs some accommodation in order to participate please ask the volunteers or camp staff for help.
Funding:
Alabaré Family Camp is supported through funding from individual donations. Contributions provide for transportation, meals and lodging.
